I work from a relational perspective that values and utilizes Black, Indigenous, trans, queer, disabled, and feminist ideologies, and I strive to decolonize my practice in all ways possible. My practice is Queer, Trans*, Disability, Neurodivergent, Non-monogamy, Polyamory, and Relationship Anarchy affirming as well as Sex, Sex Work, Kink, and Body positive. Your spiritual practices, communities, and support systems are welcome in our work together.
Many of us are stripped of our ability to build safe relationship before we can even remember. Therapy can be a place to restore these practices that were once innate to our being.
I strive to provide a place to be in safe, responsive relationship in my practice, and I encourage the integration of this experience so that not only can you begin to relate to yourself in more loving, genuine ways but you can also begin to offer this to others.
There is freedom to be found in noticing, naming, and processing the burdens of our traumas and generational legacies instead of keeping them in the background. Liberation-focused work holds the hope that things can be different and invites practices to open the door to new ways of being.
Because we all experience harm throughout our lives, it became very important to me to study and center trauma-informed practices in my work.
These days, I rely most heavily on Janina Fisher's Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) modality, which brings together all of the best that neuroscience and parts work have to offer through incorporating Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with Internal Family Systems (IFS).
We all come to this work from our own perspectives and lived experiences, all of which inform our internal narratives and beliefs about the world. I will always do my best to remain aware of the ways your various identities may be at play in our work together and strive to bring that awareness to the forefront with curiosity and the utmost respect for how it has helped you to survive.
Your spiritual self and beliefs are most welcome in our work together and will be called upon in moments of need and resource as well as celebration and joy. If a spiritual practice is not already part of your life, I invite curiosity about what does support you in your moments of greatest need or joy.
Many survivors of trauma have histories and experiences with addiction and compulsive behaviors in oder to cope with the high levels of distress throughout our lives. I rely heavily on trauma-informed harm reduction strategies in order to support clients achieve their goals.
I am 12-step friendly, and I believe that recovery is a personal journey that we each have to shape in order to meet and be responsive to our needs along the way.
